Significant Commitment
Last Sunday of Bridgepoint Global Summit
Welcome to the final Sunday of our Bridgepoint Global Summit! What an incredible month it has been—hearing stories, celebrating what God is doing locally and globally, and being reminded that the Gospel is still changing lives.
Today we celebrate not only what’s happening around the world—but what’s happening right here at home. Our kids have been learning. Our local church has been growing. And together, we’ve been asking an important question:
How can we—how can this church—be part of sharing the Gospel around the world?
Starting Churches. Changing Lives.
Jesus’ final words before ascending into heaven were not about comfort or convenience. They were about mission.
This year through Global Summit:
$128,000 is committed to help start churches.
$61,000 is committed to help feed and care for children.
That’s not small. That’s significant.
We currently partner with 31 missionary families and projects whose focus is simple:
Share the Gospel
Gather people
Start churches
Today we had the privilege of hearing from two of those missionaries.
Meet Jacob & Sydney Mulford
Jacob and Sydney are headed to Portugal at the end of February to help plant churches.
We asked them a few questions:
1️⃣ What does preparation for a big move like this look like?
Preparing for the field means months (sometimes years) of raising support, packing up life, learning culture, building partnerships, and stepping into the unknown with faith.
2️⃣ Why Portugal?
Portugal is one of the least evangelized nations in Western Europe. There is tremendous opportunity for Gospel impact and new church plants.
3️⃣ Why partner with another missionary family?
Partnership provides strength, accountability, encouragement, and shared leadership. Church planting is never meant to be done alone.
4️⃣ How many churches are financially partnering with you—and what does that mean to your family?
Every church partnership represents people praying, giving, and believing in what God will do. It means stability, provision, and spiritual covering.
Get in the Game
You’ve heard us say it:
10 people giving $20 per month can change the world.
Starting March 1st, you can visit the Giving Tab on our website and designate:
Starting Churches
Helping Kids (Manna – $25/month feeds a child)
It’s simple. It’s consistent. It’s powerful.
Why This Matters to Jesus
Before Jesus ascended, He gathered His disciples.
Acts 1:6
They asked, “Lord, are You at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?”
In other words:
“Is this when You fix politics? Restore power? Change our circumstances?”
They were thinking about what should happen.
Acts 1:7
Jesus answered:
“It is not for you to know the times or seasons…”
They were thinking about when it should happen.
But Jesus’ plans are always better than ours.
They had no idea they were about to become part of the most powerful movement in human history.
The Left Turn: Acts 1:8
“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you…”
This was a new ability for a specific task.
Under the old covenant, the Holy Spirit came temporarily for specific purposes.Under the new covenant, the Holy Spirit is given to every believer.
Not to impress people. Not to perform magic tricks. But to empower us to accomplish God’s purposes.
Ten days later, on the Day of Pentecost, that promise became reality (John 16:7–8, Acts 2).
A New Directive
“…and you shall be witnesses to Me.”
The Holy Spirit empowers our witness.
My purpose is simple:Tell other people what Jesus has done for me.
Your story may not look like mine. But every story is a miracle.
Gratitude of forgiveness.Gratitude of change.Gratitude of opportunity.
Peter and John understood this.
Acts 4:18
They were commanded to stop speaking about Jesus.
Acts 4:19–20
They responded:
“We cannot help but speak the things we have seen and heard.”
What was available to them is available to us.
Where We Witness
Acts 1:8 gives us the blueprint.
🏙 Jerusalem – People I Know
Invite someone to church.Look for opportunities to share your story.Be sensitive to the Spirit’s leading.
🏡 Judea – People Like Me
Build relationships in your neighborhood.Be available to listen and pray.
🌎 Samaria – People Different Than Me
Ask God to stretch your comfort zone.Meet needs.Instead of “Somebody should do something,” say, “That somebody is me.”
🌍 Ends of the Earth – People I May Never Meet
Go on a short-term mission trip.Invest financially in starting churches.Help feed and care for children.
Continue the Commitment
For many of you, this is exactly what you’ve done.
Your generosity has made an incredible difference.
But the challenge now is this:
Continue.
Continue helping kids.Continue starting churches.Continue partnering with missionaries like Jacob and Sydney.
On your way out, pick up a card listing the missionaries we support—including long-time partners like Dave & Ruth and leaders like Charlie Ross.
A Special Opportunity: Nepal
In a region known as a drug corridor, believers have been gathering—but they need a church building.
They already have:
Half the supplies
All the labor
What they lack is the remaining funding—typically $3,000–$5,000.
There are no existing funds set aside for this.
But here’s what we believe:
When they are ready, we are ready.
Over the next two weeks, you can visit the Giving Tab on the Bridgepoint website and select Project Nepal. Every dollar given will go directly toward completing that church building.
We can be the answer to their prayer.
A Significant Commitment
Being a Christian has never been about comfort. It has never been about serving only when convenient.
Jesus said:
“Take up your cross and follow Me.”
Every follower of Jesus must set aside some things that matter to them in order to pursue what matters most to Him.
And what matters most to Him?
People.Lost people.Children.Churches.Nations.
Thank you for your generosity.Thank you for your obedience.Thank you for being part of something bigger than yourself.
Let’s continue to be the kind of church that says:
“We cannot help but speak the things we have seen and heard.”
