The Subtle Art of Loving Those You Don’t Like

Let’s be honest—loving people we like is easy. It’s comfortable, rewarding, and socially acceptable. But what about those we don’t like? What about the people who hurt us, oppose us, or make our lives harder? Jesus doesn’t just acknowledge that we’ll have enemies—He expects it. And even more boldly, He commands us to love them.

This week’s message in our Sermon on the Mount series tackles one of the most difficult teachings in all of Scripture:

“But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you…”—Matthew 5:44 (NKJV)

We’re diving deep into what this really looks like—not in theory, but in real life.

Jesus isn’t calling us to like everyone. In fact, liking your enemies isn’t the goal—loving them is. That’s a much harder ask, but it’s exactly what Jesus did. From Judas to Peter, Jesus washed the feet of men who would betray and deny Him. He chose love in action over comfort or self-preservation.

💥 This message will challenge you.💥 It might even make you uncomfortable.💥 But it will absolutely change the way you see others—and yourself.

We’ll explore what Jesus meant by loving our enemies through our words, our actions, and our prayers—not based on how we feel, but on what God commands. Because feelings follow obedience, not the other way around.

In a world that tells us to cancel, clap back, or cut people off, Jesus shows us a better way—the Kingdom way.
